The height above the Earth varies from around 200 – 270 miles. This is because at this height there are actually still traces of atmosphere – tiny tiny amounts but they cause friction and aerodynamic drag on the ISS and without regular boosts it would quickly re-enter Earth’s atmosphere. It gets boosted about once a month I think.
