The Earth is in a goldilocks zone – which basically means it’s not too hot or too cold and can support life. It’s a delicate balance and any fluctuations in the temperature can have big effects – like global warming. At the moment the sun is in its most stable part of its life but over the next billion years it will start burning more brightly, which means it will get too hot to support life (in its current form) on Earth. But a billion years is looooong time – who knows what state humankind will be in – if it’s even still here!
