• Question: Why is the universe expanding at an accelerated rate?

      I don’t think we know – and that is why the idea of “dark energy” has emerged. Dark energy is some sort of energy (we do not know what exactly) which seems to accelerate the expansion of the universe beyond the rate that we predict. Hopefully in the near future we will have more answers!
