Question: What do you think is the coolest natural phenomenon in space?

Easy – microgravity. Humans having never known anything other than the Earth’s gravity: our bodies have evolved to operate perfectly in it and as we grow up, everything we learn to do – stand, walk, run, jump, throw and catch a ball – we learn to do by allowing for its effects. Take the effects of gravity away and everything is different. And it’s only when you can take its effects that you realise just how many things are affected by it – this is why the international space station is such a unique research laboratory.

Actually its really a tough one to answer… there is so many beautiful objects in the night sky! From stars, meteorites, to planets, galaxies, etc etc….
But, OK, if I have to choose one it would be the Orion Nebula! .
A nebula is a mass of interstella gases which are collapsing under their own weight to form stars and planets… its a stella nursery! The Orion Nebula is really cool because it is so close (only 20light years away!) and can be seen even with the Naked Eye – you can see it as a purple smudge under the belt of Orion – ask your teacher to help you find it!
With the help of instruments like the Hubble Space Telescope scientists have discovered over 150 planetary disks… that means over 150 solar systems forming out there! Thats the power of gravity!
When I was growing up I used to spend hours looking at this object in my back garden on cold winter nights… i think its one of the main drivers for why I work in space today…..

The coolest one I have seen myself is the southern lights – it was amazing!!
