• Question: If a comet had life on it but the comet crashed onto a planet with no life, could that life sustain on that planet?

      Hi Zebeast!
      I think that this depends a lot from the planet’s conditions.

      If a comet crashed on Earth today, most likely the heat generated by the friction with the atmosphere would kill the life on the comet. I think it’s quite difficult that some form of life could survive a temperature of thousands of degrees.

      But if the atmosphere was not so thick as the Earth’s one, or if the life was deep inside the comet and as such protected from the heat, then I think it could survive (I’m talking about mono-cellular organisms, I don’t think a complex life form similar to an animal could survive the impact)
