I’m the only person my family with a advanced degree, and the only person (so far) to train for a PhD- so that is a pretty big acheivement.

What am I most proud of- hmmm- flying to Australia on my own, despite the fact I was so scared I couldn’t sleep and I was so tired I cried on my host family when they came to pick me up. It was my first time travelling alone; before that I’d been known to get lost going into town on the bus, which was only 3 miles from my parents house! Now I’ve traveled lots of places- but that first time was a real challenge.

Little achievements for me are just as important as the big things, even when no-one else notices or they think it’s a bit silly- as long as you know on the inside then it’s all good ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t know you went to Oz Kirsty! Nice ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m the only Australian ever in history to work in ISS Flight Control.

Thereโ€™s no real space industry in Australia, so I knew for many years that I would have to move overseas to pursue my dream career in either the USA or Europe. I left to live in Italy as a 15year old all by myself where I have dual citizenship thanks to my grandparents. I know Iโ€™m not ever returning home, which is sad because Australia is ideal in almost everything except my atypical career aims, but working in the space industry was always my dream.
