      I’ve fixed an experiment problem before it got to ISS, but not on the ISS.

      We had to work out how to keep cells warm during an experiment and how to keep the samples cool at the end of the experiment so they could get back to Earth again- the experiment will hopefully fly next year.

      Joao: It happens sometimes that things break on the ISS. Usually that is not a problem, because for most things we have redundancy. That means that we have 2 things that can do the same job. So when something breaks we usually just switch to the other one. Of course, after that we need to replace the broken item. So either we have spare parts on board the ISS, or we send them up whenever we get the chance.
      The last “fix” I did from ground was an easy one. We just had one of the computers in the Columbus module acting strangely, so we switched to the other computer. After switching we were able to fix the broken one (from ground) and now we have the 2 computers working fine again. 🙂
