Joao: I actually quite like it. It can be anoying sometimes. But it is also the only way to reach out to other people and to spread the interest in space. And honestly, most media is not trying to be anoying and they just want to help you spread your message.
And in fact, we could even consider the “I am an Astronaut Get me Out of Here” as media. And how great has it been that we can talk to you and answer all your questions? 🙂
Media coverage and TV shows are a great way for people to hear and learn about space, astronauts and rockets.
Sometimes the media can get things wrong and focus on things that are not true but that is all part of it. As a scientist I love to tell people about what I do and giving interviews is a great way to make sure a particular story is covered in a good way and educates the public.
Another great tool is social media and allows you to directly get your message across. I love using twitter for example and posting pictures and answering questions on there is actually really fun 🙂
Media coverage is great, although I prefer not to be in it usually 😉 My voice is broadcast live on the internet when I talk to space and that’s more than enough for me! ESA’s work and the Astronauts are in the media a lot and they are fabulous – such amazing science and engineering projects!! http://www.esa.int and http://astronauts.esa.int/
