The first cosmonaut I trained was Sergei Volkov. His father was a famous cosmonaut and Sergei is determined to be as good as him. He has flown 3 times to the space station, in total spending a year and a half there. He was the youngest commander of the ISS. I feel proud of what he has achieved.
I also trained Dan Burbank who worked before as a US Coast Guard. He flew a rescue helicopter on a dangerous mission which later became a Hollywood film A Perfect Storm. A true hero!
I trained a classmate of Tim Peake, called Luca Parmitano. He became famous when his spacesuit leaked water into his helmet during a spacewalk. It quickly became a dangerous situation, but Luca stayed calm and managed to return to the space station where his crew mates helped him. Since that incident, NASA has changed the way it conducts spacewalks.
In the end, all astronauts become famous in their home countries. There are still so few people who have gone into space…
