Ivano: As Tom said, the usual duration is two increments (6 months). However, NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and Roscosmos (Russian Space Agency) cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko just ended the long duration mission (340 days) to study effects of a long-duration stay in space, to prepare for Mars missions.
