Because we have no way to get fresh milk here 🙂 Over the winter, there is no possibility of any aircraft or ship arriving to us, because of the cold, dark and amount of ice. Even now, in the Antarctic summer (opposite to the UK!) when planes can get in, it’s too expensive to bring milk as it’s very heavy. So we drink dehydrated milk – a powder that looks like instant mash potato that we mix with water! It’s not too bad really – if it’s chilled it tastes about the same and you can use it like milk when cooking 🙂
