0 Question: What happens to a slinky in space? Keywords: slinky Asked by xx_AstroBoy_xx to Simon, Julia, Delma, Andrew, Alex on 10 Dec 2015.
Delma Childers answered on 10 Dec 2015:
If you let it go it will wobble and tumble a little bit. In space, it works better to demonstrate some of the physics behind waves.
Forgive the quality of the video, but here you can see a demonstration of some toys in space (Go to 26:30 for the slinky).
Andrew Winnard answered on 10 Dec 2015:
I think Delma got this one right, it would float around if you left it alone. But like down here on Earth, you could make waves pass through it and it is a good demonstration of that.
