• Question: How did you think of/create FRED?

      Hey again 862nch28! Great to see you are intersted in FRED!

      Well the truth is that I did not actually create FRED. He was made by someone else at the university several years ago. I got to work on him when it they thought it might be good to use FRED for astonauts after they come back from space. I had been working at the European Astronaut Centre , had done a physio project with FRED and I was a physio by that time, so I got the job I have now. That job is to do research on FRED to figure how he works and eventually try to answer the question of if he will help astronauts avoid back pain and injuries.

      Thinking outside the box and being creative is what leads to new ideas like FRED though and its an important part of being a scientist and working in space! All you need to start being creative is an imagination and I bet you already have that too!
